Greater Naples Leadership recently completed a volunteer project for a Habitat for Humanity home located in the Habitat Collier Whitaker Woods community in March as part of their ongoing Done in a Day series. Continuing GNL’s focus on affordable housing for 2023, a delegation of 19 GNL members and spouses put their painting and caulking expertise to use in order to have several affordable homes ready for occupancy in an area greatly in need of such housing.
“GNL members were thrilled to give their time to help alleviate the affordable housing shortage in Collier County,” GNL President Kitty Keane remarked. “We were especially honored to help Habitat for Humanity, as putting people in homes is their goal.” (Florida Weekly, Giving April 20, 2023 link to article)
This project is a continuation of GNL’s focus on affordable housing this year.
The group heard from Habitat CEO Lisa Lefkow, who noted that the local branch is not only the largest in the United States, but also is Collier County’s largest developer of affordable housing. We also heard from Nounagnon Dega, the very appreciative future homeowner, who was contributing “sweat equity” hours to his purchase alongside our team (pictured below).
