The Botanical Gardens provided a truly wonderful setting for GNL’s first ACE event of the season. The casual everything Cuban environment, complete with music, a Cuban buffet, cigar box/maracas centerpieces, Cuban related giveaways, was fun and informative for all that attended. Plus, how about Dr. Jamie Suchlicki from the University of Miami? He made Cuba come alive as he discussed its history, culture, politics and future relations with the United States.
The Botanical Gardens caterer Lurcat did a great job with their Caribbean buffet of beans, rice, pollo y arroz, Cuban sandwiches, and traditional Cuban desserts. We could have easily been in Cuba itself for the afternoon.
Great job CAT and ACE committee. Keep these interesting, informative events coming.
Next up “Will Alzheimer’s Ever Be a Distant Memory”? on February 21. Stay tuned for more information and registration.
