November 2 started with visits at Fun Time Pre-K School, the Community School of Naples, Golden Gate Middle School and Edison State College.

Fun Fact: While at Edison State College the Interim-President, Dr. Robert Jones, was host to the Class XVI group that toured ESC.  The tour included several new construction projects on the campus, including the Allen and Marla Weiss Health Services Hall.  The GNL group was the first outside group to tour this new facility.

The rest of the day was spent at Lorenzo Walker Technical Institute, where the highlight of the day was a very energized panel discussion with Alan Horton, the former co-chairman of the Education Foundation of Collier County’s Connect Now initiative, leading the panelists; Dr. Kamela Patton- Superintendent of the Collier County Schools, Ms. Jayne Watt, Marco Island Academy, Charter School and Ms. Pat Carroll, Collier County School Board Member.

The day ended at Alice Sweetwater’s for a beverage and lively discussion on the many aspects of education in Collier County.  Many of the Class members commented on how much they appreciated the day and how much they are learning about Collier County thru GNL.
