Class XVIII’s first project after graduation took them to the Jewish Family & Community Services (JFCS), where one of their classmates, Jackie Faffer, is president/CEO. “Our small but robust group of 13 volunteers helped with the Senior Center’s weekly luncheon, which over 100 attended. Duties included assisting in registration, guiding folks to their tables, serving beverages as needed and talking with the attendees, hopefully making their day a little brighter.”
JFCS is a non-sectarian organization dedicated to meeting the human services needs of Collier and Southern Lee County communities. Their programs, such as mental health counseling, geriatric case management, volunteer services, the Food Pantry and the JFCS Senior Center support and strengthen people of all ages, backgrounds and beliefs.
“We feel that our class made a difference and we enjoyed getting to know some terrific seniors who rely on and use JFCS for support.”
