Ann Berlam’s interest in the quality of GNL education is consistent with her lifelong commitment to addressing education issues. Ann served in Washington DC as a legislative assistant to a NC congressman and as the first director of the Washington office for the NC Department of Education, representing the states needs before the US Congress. In GNL, Ann (Class VI) served on the board of directors as secretary and president. While on the GNL board, she was appointed to the Edison Community College Foundation Board of Directors, which she chaired. In 2007, the Governor appointed her to the Edison State College Board of Trustees, which she chaired during the challenging time when the Trustees removed the President of Edison from office, hired an interim president and then his successor.
